Sunny:(Yawn) Wake up sleepy heads.

Leopard Baby:(studdering) GG-Good Morning SSS-Sunny

All chicks besides Leopard Baby: What's wrong?

Leopard Baby: Ever since we came here, I liked Professor Hill. Then, she introduced us to these short creatures that looked like her. Some of them dropped me and hurt me.

Boston: Uh-Huh, I see... Very interesting.

Penguin: Boston, this is serious stop playing around!!

Oreo: Leopard Baby don't worry Professor Hill got our backs!

Sunny: Soon the kids will all have our backs.

All chicks besides Leopard Baby: We all have your backs!!!

Boston: NEW YORK GIANTS ARE AWESOME! LOOK AT THAT STUFF! THAT GUY MADE A TOUCHDOWN FROM THE OTHER SIDE!

Penguin: Say what?

Angel: What.

All (except Leopard Baby): (laughing really hard)

Sunshine: Nice one Angel. (chuckles)

Leopard Baby: (yawns) Hey guys, what did I miss?

Angel: Alright, you're finally up! You-

Boston: (staring dreamily at TV) You missed so much! The New York Giants are killing it out there!

Leopard Baby: Huh?

Boston: (jumps down) AIR TACKLE!

Angel: STOP! You're gonna hit Leopard!

(Boston smacks into Penguin, pushing her into Leopard Baby)

Leopard Baby: OW! My eye!

Sunshine: Look at what you did, Boston! You should be ashamed of yourself!

A Day in the Life of Teenage Chicks

Oreo: Come on guys! We're going to get caught if you don't hurry up!
Penguin: Calm your feathers, Oreo!
*The six chicks slid under Prof. Hill's desk*
Sunshine: So, why did you want us to come here?
Angel: Why couldn't we just stay in our pen?
Oreo: This is our sanctuary. When ever Prof. Hill leaves the room we can go here and do what ever we want.
*Oreo pulls out her iPhone and plays Beyonce*
Baby Leopard: Oh my gosh! I love this song!
*All the chicks start dancing*
Boston: Wait! Guys, I hear footsteps!
*They all run back to the pen*
Boston: Oh. False alarm!
*Prof. Hill walks past the room*
Oreo: Guys! I just want to say one thing. If we get caught, none of us speak English. Ok?
All: OKAY!
*The chicks continue to have fun at their new sanctuary*
Another Kind of Love Story

Part One:

There once was a baby duck name Don. Ever since Don was a duckling, he was adventurous. One day, duckling  Don wandered far from his mother and siblings in search for some adventure. He stumbled upon a farm and found a lost baby chick. As if cupid had shot his arrow, Don fell for the young beautiful chick. The same was with the lost baby."Hello, my name is Chei." "My name is Don. You look lost, are you?" "Why yes I am. How did you know?" "The puzzled look on your face told me." "Your chicken coop looks like it is over there. Make some sounds to alert your mother." And Chei did alert her mother, but the moment she turned around, the handsome duck had vanished. She knew why. Both Don and Chei had learned the most important rule in both chicken and duck law from the moments they hatched. That rule was for chickens to stay away from ducks and for ducks to stay away from chickens. That was the rule that both the young just broke. Still, the law did not keep the love birds apart. As they grew to adolescence, they visited each other in secret, in the woods. Then, one day, The two were caught in their secret meeting and where banished from meeting ever again. What were Don and Chei to do now?

THE ADVENTURE OF CHICKS IN SIX

" Come on Teeny, Leopard Baby, Penguin, Orie, Boston and Angel" said Sunny. We are going on a adventure to the park!" YEAH" they all chirrped and they went on with their adventure, to the park. Minutes passed and passed until they were finally in the park. So, what should we do? asked Sunnny. I think that we should go to the playground. said Orie. Okay, is that alright with you guys? asked Sunny. Sure, why not. they all said. Weee! Aaah! Woo Hoo! The chicks were having a lot of fun in the park as you can see until the sun started to go down and they had to go back home, to Prof. Hill. "So, where have you guys been today? Prof. Hill asked. To the park! they screamed, and with that they went back into their little home and went fast asleep to wake up again to be with the six graders.

THE END

Words :)

Words

1. Music
Chirp! Chirp! Chirp!
A beautiful harmony of melodic and symphonic music fills the air. Creating a calming and soothing atmosphere. Demonstrating a common joy in the chicks, bringing a smile to the students faces.

2. Adorable, Fluffy & Cute

They are so adorable! I love them! Awwwwwww! They are so cute! Many of the students gush. The chicks bring a sudden warmth to the students. Cute, fluffy, and adorable chicks make students more eager to go to ELA and philosophy. Adorable, fluffy, and cute: three perfect words to describe the Chicks.

3. Community

The chicks are easily becoming apart of the 6th grade community. I just love the fact that we have the chicks, they create a whole new twist to learning. They are easily becoming official members in our classrooms.

4. Goodbye

Imagine how hard it is going to be to say goodbye to Boston, Angel, Oreo, Sunny, Leopard Baby, and Penguin. We have all become attached to the cute, adorable chicks in six. What a emotional day it will be when we have to say goodbye.

Interview with Oreo

This is the chicken radio reporting. An interview with the chicken who went to the U.S.A.

Human:What is you name?

Oreo:Oreo

Human:(chuckle)

Oreo:What?

Human:You see, an oreo is a chocolate cookie with cream inside it in this world.

Oreo: Ohhh

Human:So Oreo(chuckles), Some chicks want to know where you are and how they can find you. They also want to know what you are doing here.

Oreo:I live in the state of New  York and live in the city of New York.I am not going to tell strangers which bourgh I live in or What street I live on.I don't want anybody to spy on me.Fine, I live in  Manhattan.............and live on 123 street in a school call Columbia Secondary School, At least I think.I want to get a recommendation to get into Columbia Chicky Collage, taking in consideration that there is only one collage the chicken world.Only 113,894,506,643,263,999,432
chickens can get in!!!So as

Human:Sorry Oreo(chuckles) but we ran out of time.

Human:Ore(laughs historically)o

Home Sweet Home...OR IS IT( I know this sounds threatning, but it's not meant to be)

All six of us, Oreo (Orie), Sunshine (Sunny), Lepord baby, Penguin, Ange, and I, were all just starting to get used to our new home in the 6th grade ELA classroom. We had a cozy home with plenty of warmth and food- what's not to love? However, after about three days, we noticed a strange lift in the younger large beings steps that we had not seen before, we would soon figure out why.
Soon the end of of our third day came and we were ready for, as the younger beings call her professor Hill, to wish us warm goodbyes till the next day. This time, however, we were carefully lifted out of our home and placed into the carrier we had come here in ad were brought down the extremely long sets of stairs that lead up to our home, and out we went. I felt the cool breeze running along Penguin's fluffy feathers and the sun bouncing of Sunny's back. I heard young beings saying things such as "... it's Friday! Yay!..." and " ...What are you ong this weekend?..." I guess these "Fridays" and "weekends" are the reason why we are going out with professor Hill. For some reson I liked being out a lot, even if it is not as warm as our cozy home.
ONE LOOOOOONNNNNNGGGGG TRIP LATER...
Our trip hear was amazing! I never knew so many things existed. I now wish we could go home with the amazing professor Hill every day, she is amazing and even made a blog based off US.I guess home sweet home is alays what it seems to be at first
                                    The Train...
So, we were put in a bag we could barely see out of. "whats going on", my sister, Boston,  peeped.  We were carried in to a scary dark tunnel.  We were clueless as to where we were or what was going on.  "Don't worry, were in the train station", mom said.  Trains, as we learned, are big , monstrous things.  It roared into the station as we nestled safely in our bag.  Once we were on the train, it struck me that people were staring at me in an awed way. "What are ya looking at punk?", I peeped loudly.  The person just kept gawking at me in an odd way.  My mom pet my head so I stopped worrying.
When we were finally home, I fell right asleep.

The 6 happy chicks

One day the Janitor stayed extra late to clean the 3rd floor. He entered room 312 and saw all the chicks dancing around the whole room. Oreo was the only one that was not playing he was nice and asleep. Sunny was drawing a mustache on Oreo. Leopard Baby was looking at a picture of his mom Professor. Hill, Boston, Penguin and Angel were dancing with an iPod on the floor. The janitor crept slowly and quietly. But since he was a giant compared to the chicks the chicks noticed. they all froze but the janitor showed them that he was kind. This gained their trust. Then the janitor was invited to their future parties. Now the janitor wears a tuxedo under his uniform. The janitor is a real close friend to the six
chicks.

OHH, how good I feel!

To start off ,this is really special. Just to be able to get to feel them almost about
any time is just wonderful. We are just so lucky, not everybody will get the chance
to raise chickens in their classroom where we learn as a whole. This is so wonderful and
we should all take this as a experience.

THE CHICKS ARE ASLEEP! Be QUIET.

It was a dark and stormy night. The clouds were ma king lightning.ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!A shock of lightning caused a blackout. The blackout caused the heating lamp and everything to shut down. OH NO, cried prof. Hill. Now how will I get my babies to sleep prof. hill searched many items to keep the chickens warm. Then, she found a big warm blanket. She puts the blanket on the chickens to keep them warm. The chickens are still scared.Prof.hill began to worry they will never sleep. She then thought of what makes babies sleep when they are asleep.Prof . Hill finally thought of a song.?She sang and the chicks fell asleep. After an hour of working the power went on,and everybody slept.

The incredible life of a chick named Boston

The Incredible Life of a Chick Named Boston      I woke up one lazy afternoon to the sight of cardboard boxes,
woodchips and other chicks. The other chicks were awake, chirping like they saw a hawk. Quickly i shot up and began walking to my twin sister Oreo.
"Hey Oreo." I chirped
"Don't call me Oreo." She snapped.
"Why not?"
"Because I prefer Ore."
"But, your name is Oreo"
She was about to reply something but a rather large and odly shaped five toed foot desended into the cardboard pen. Quickly "Ore"o ran away, but the foot anticipated this and silently called another foot to its aid. Within secounds the first foot swooped down and grabbed her and the secound swooped down and attempted to grab her but, "Ore"o rapily flapped her wings, beating down on the foot. The foot let go of her as a flustered "alright, alright calm down" followed. "Ore"o fell to the ground at a high speed. And landed on the ground.
"Oreo are you okay." I asked my sister with a hint of laughter in my voice (her plumage looked ridiculous).
"Whatch out."She said staring behind me.

Before I could turn around a pair of identical, carmel brown, feet grabbed a hold of me. I tried to flap my wings but this pair was covering them.Quickly I began chirping rapidy, hoping that the hands would let go.But the foot continued to hold me.

"Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Its okay Boston. I am a friend." A voice said. It was a large chicken.
Could it be a possible mother? I had seen dosens today alone. But this one seemed different. She had warm hands and a calm soothing voice. She couild definitely be my mother.

The chicken held me close. I heard the steady beat of her heartbeat. Bum,bum, Bum,bum, Bum,bum. It was steady and slow and had an inviting sound.

"Its okay, Boston. There is nothing to fear. Everything is gonna be all right. You are a pretty, beautiful, bird. You are a lovely ,tiny , sweet, little, chick " she said. Then she put me on her lap and realeased my wings.

"I'm not little" I said. Then i stood up spread my wings and began to flap them. Astonishingly i rose in the air, and landed on a pile of books. Quickly, she grabbed me and helled me close.
"Wow you are amazing you can fly."She exclaimed."Well thats amaing, but you should stay here in my hands." she said staring at the odd feet I layed in.
"Oh thats what they are called" I thought to myself.
Then she began to tweet to me. It was a lovely sweet tune that made dose off. Nothing around me mattered. Not even when Oreo got picked up and hugged by another set of "hands". Then a bell rang and my possible mother said I'm sorry baby but I have to go."
I began to chirp in protest but she  let me down anyway and said "Goodbye my Boston". And with that she disapered. I rapidly flapped my wings to go and catch up with her, but I could not rise. Then Sunny my friend came up to me and said "Hey Boston. Where ya been?".
Then I reoplied "You wouldn't believe the fun I had"

NEW CHICKS RAP!
                                                  (verse 1)
The chicks keep chirping now
but the won't come out
sitting there
 trying to fly
but their wings won't grow too high
so they stay there
hoping someone will be there
as soon as their alone
playing, yeah I said it,
p--p--playing there on their own
just don't go!
                                                   (chorus)
please don't fly away
hey hey
stay with us just one more day
(echo)
one more day,(fading) one more day
day,day
                                                    (verse 2)
Right after dawn
the lights come on
they see us, coming in
we greet them,
almost like a kin
its like they're in heaven
with all this attention
you know what I mean.
It's like their an anti-fighting machine
their cuteness
almost brings you in and you tell them
                                                    (chorus)
please don't fly away
hey hey
stay with us just one more day
(echo)
one more day,(fading) one more day
day,day

Chicks Chirp
Under the red light
No hawks lurk
They must learn to be brave
Not being domesticated makes it hard
But I heard they will learn to be ours
This day has been longed for
And now they are here
Very quiet room
They can be quite queer
Many kinds
And many shades
Represent our world today
Dear Chicks, I wonder....

I wonder how you are enjoying being a part of CSS.
I wonder if you miss your parents.
I wonder if you remember or even know them.
I wonder what you think of humans.
I wonder if you want to fly away from your coop.
I wonder if you really understand us.
I wonder what exactly your saying at times.
I wonder if you even like the food your given.
I wonder if you would eat pizza.... and like it.
I wonder how it feels to be a chicken......but only you will know.
I wonder if you wonder .....

Chicks new Mom's

One day the class 6.3 walked in the classroom where the chicks were. Each chick were very happy to see the students. All the chicks have gathered the other night and finally agreed to pick one mama from each class. Today they were picking from 6.3. Oreo, Sunshine, Leopard Baby, Boston, Penguin, and Angel were each very excited. After each chick finally got to play with each student, they made their choices. Sunshine picked Laura, Penguin picked Luca, Boston picked Carla, Angel picked Summer, Leopard Baby picked Fei, and Oreo picked Alix. Each chick made their announcement to each other that night. They were very happy.

Chickie fictional story (P.O.V. of Oreo)

Hi. My 4 friends and 1 sister and I been in this box in a room where this big giant teaches smaller giants called humans. We haven't been in there every day. Just 5 days a week. On the other 2 days we go home with the big giant human named Hill. We have to get picked up and put into this weird carrier and go into this strange underground vehicle that moves very fast and is often crowded with more giant humans. We go to Brooklyn. We haven't been in the teaching room every day, like last week, the first two days we were in Brooklyn at Hill's house. Tomorrow (Monday, April 29), the day after, and the day after the day after, we might stay at Hill's house again. During her teaching time, I heard her say that we might "hang out in the office with the principal", whoever that is. It's probably another human. Anyways, our box is fun. Some of the small giants called kids built us some playground stuff that are really awesome.

What creeps me out is when they put their hands in and try to pick us up. My friends like it. When they try to pick me up, I "flip my lid"(like Hill likes to put it). Some are really nice and put me back down when I'm "flipping my lid" and I think they are being patient and waiting until I get used to it. But some don't care. They pick me up and a couple squeeze me really hard. It's painful and annoying. The only human I kind of trust is Hill. She's caring, and I know this because I've seen her help my friend with the hurt eye get better. So, I hate these kids trying to pick me up. The only thing that I like (and they like, too) about their hands being in our box is that they have shiny things on their fingers that we like to peck on. We like shiny things.

What I don't get is why they call me Oreo. It's not my name. I don't have a name. I am not a cookie. I am a pullet. They call everyone names. They call the that used to have the hurt eye Baby Leopard or Leopard Baby, which she likes because Hill started calling her that. She loves Hill. Whenever she sticks her hand in the box, she runs to it and Hill starts to lift it up. Then, she starts to run up to the top of Hill's arm I think called the shoulder. My sister is Boston, who they started calling I think because of the bombings there. I have no clue what a bomb is but I think it's bad. I saw more bomb news in the newspaper that some careless kid threw in our box. It said "amNew York". It also had big letters saying "WE WERE NEXT" Then it had a big red target, and underneath that it said "Police:Terror suspects plan to bomb Times Square". Then it had two pictures of two most likely evil humans. Oh, bad stuff. Ok, back to names. There's another chick with some feathers on her leg, and they call her Penguin. Hill called her that first and I don't think she seems to like it. Leopard Baby keeps trying to convince her to like it since Hill came up with it. Then they call the yellow one Sunshine/Sunny. And last but not least, Angel. She doesn't seem to care. They also call me Orie which I don't mind, I just don't get why they do it. But I think I'm gonna be called Orie or Oreo for the rest of my life so I think I'd better start getting used to it.

Overall, we chicks like the learning building, the fast underground vehicle (kind of), Hill's house, and the humans (who are mostly nice and I am slowly getting used to). In the learning building we are learning ELA, whatever that is, with Hill and the other kids. The fast underground vehicle is interesting and I've decided that I like machines. Hill's house is really nice and we like our "pen" there. The humans are fun and are getting more careful with us. I think I like Hill, like Leopard baby, but I don't think she's my mama. Like Bella said, we couldn't be happier.

Escape

As I'm telling you this story, I'm escaping. I lived as a domesticated animal for most of my life. My home was a closed up space, way to high for me to reach. If you didn't know, I'm a chicken. I had pretty much given up hope of being out and just followed my daily routines. As I was listening in on a human's conversation, I picked up some key words, "freedom...chickens...should let them out in a while...they're like prisoners".
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. A glimmer of hope shined upon me. I could be free. Most animals that are domesticated have no desire to be free. Me? I lived for freedom. I squawked the words to my fellow hens. They suddenly became alert, preparing for the human to open the latch.

We watched carefully as the human  fiddled with the latch. It was a boy and and girl. They opened the gate and one second ago silence escaped and we went into a frenzy. We flew out.

The taste of freedom was amazing. We flew and scuttled down the road. The humans were yelling something as we ran. Freedom was at long last in my soul.

A Shocking Event in a Simple Life - a series of limericks*

The chicks wake up to a glorious day
They know that they will play,
for you see they lead a simple life
with never any strife.
This is the tale of a chick event where all the chicks were okay.

It started out with a game of chase
A chick decided she needed some space
Up pops Boston on the roof
and down comes the house in a poof.
A thought the spectaters couldn't erase

Luckily the cardboard house didn't causer any damage,
therefore there was no wreckage.
It was simply ignored
because it was nothing more
than a small disadvantage

Dispite the fallen carboard house, the chicks continued their game
as if everything still was the same.
The spectating children set the house right,
after getting over the second of fright.
For the children knew the collapse wasn't Boston's aim.

*These limericks are based off a true story with the chicks. Like it was mentioned in the limerick there was no damage or chicks hurt in the collapse.

Life of the Chicks in Six (part 1)

Penguin: What the? Where are we? Weren't we on a farm the other day?

Oreo: I know right? Was there a teleportation device somewhere? Well, scientifically speaking, that's not possible.

Penguin: Agh! What are those loud noises? Woah, a giant! And it looks nothing like us!

Leopard Baby: (dreamily) What are you talking about?

Oreo: THOSE THINGS!

Leopard Baby: (snores)

Angel: Yo, who cares if they giant? They're awesome! They're taking care of me nicely, man, you guys are awesome!

Oreo: Do you understand me? Do you? ... I guess not.

Boston: Where are we again? You guys are from New York? This is New York? Whoop Whoop, New York Giants!

Sunshine: Na Ork who?

Boston: Its called New York Giants Sunny, learn the name.

Penguin: How are you guys okay with them. Shiver me feathers!

Leopard Baby: (snores again, louder)

Chick Parody of "The Raven"

Once inside a classroom dreary, while we pondered, weak and weary,
Over many a
large and boring
volume of Prentice Hall Literature,

While we nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of someone gently rapping, rapping at the classroom door.
" 'Tis some student" the teacher muttered, "tapping at my classroom door;
Only this, and nothing more."

But the teacher swung the door wide open, and there no student stood; so we focused,
On our tasks, but soon again there came a tapping somewhat louder than before.
“ ‘Tis some student,” the teacher cried; “Now all you work while I find the culprit that still hides.”
But no student in the classroom had made the quiet tapping, and so the teacher continued to search for the reason of the incessant rapping at the classroom door.
“What if it’s at the window?” a student wondered. To the window the teacher headed, opening it wide, and the air inside billowed, but no creature, nor student of the teacher, was to be seen.
But then a peeping echoed from the window; the students raced outside to find the cheeping; the teacher running after; “But I saw no creature,” cried the teacher.
But the students paid no heed, and continued searching in their greed; but no fowl was to be seen.
And so they sadly headed back inside, thoughts consumed by that which hides; When one student spied six peeping chicks in the brush.
“Hush,” the teacher said as she brought the chicks back inside; who to this day have no need to hide.

Cheep, cheep.  Cheep, cheep, cheep.  I listened to the to the trills of the other chicks as they cried out to be picked up or ran from the large, squishy objects that reached into the pen to pick up (and occasionally put down) a chick.   One of the black-and-white chicks-I still had trouble telling them apart-raced past me, kicking some stray feed onto my wings.  I cheeped at him in indignation, but otherwise made no move as I continued to sit in the corner of my pen (the rest of the chicks were just visitors, right?) staring up at the ceiling.

It was dirty, I could tell, even from far away.  It was cracked and grayed, the paint peeling off in the corner.

And yet it was the place I most wanted to go.  More specifically, I wanted to fly.  I had heard rumors of flying, of the exhilarating rush of air supporting your body, but I had never experienced it.  My wings were small, and the soft feather didn’t help much to fly.  Furthermore, every time I had tried to take flight from the roost, the largest human picked me up in their fleshy hands and set me down, away from the roost.

For maybe the hundredth time that hour, I went through the underside of my wing with my beak.  The feathers were light brown and soft, still not enough to streamline my flight. My beak easily went through them to poke my skin-ow.  Despite this, though, I wondered if I could try again tonight, when no one would pull me away.  The white mesh cover would be on top of the pen, preventing me from taking off, but a few inches of flight was better than nothing.  I started fluffing up the down feather, grooming them back down, and repeating the process.  How many times would I have to do this before I could fly?

All of the sudden, I was picked up by one of the humans.  They lifted me high into the air, well above the top of my pen.  First I started to cheep loudly to be let down, when I realized excitedly that maybe, just maybe, I could jump off the human and fly down.  For the first time, I didn’t hear them cooing over my pretty wings, which I normally loved, but instead concentrated on preparing for flight: I spread my feet and began to flap my wings.  Then I started to race across the human’s hand.  But before I got any further than a couple of centimeters, I felt something press me down from above, squishing me against the human’s hand and forcing my breath out.  I couldn’t see this force, but I was pretty sure it was another human.  I quelled my annoyance and tried again, with no success.

Okay, this time, I’ll do it when they’re distracted.  That shouldn’t take long.  Sure enough, within what seemed like seconds, the human that was holding me was chatting away contentedly with another one.  Taking a deep breath, I stretched my wings as wide as I could and once more started to run, my claws digging into the human’s skin.  I jumped off the human’s hand, wildly flapping my wings. For a terrifying seconds, I thought I was going to crash, but then a slight breeze from one of the large windows caught me.  The air whooshed under my wings, ruffling my feathers in the most satisfying way.

For two seconds, I was free.

Orie's Diary

So, I found this bound stack of paper the other day. It looks like one of those "book" things that the children always seem to have. And I couldn't let such a treasure go to waste, so I decided to fill it up with my thoughts. And here they are.

My sister was being really annoying today. She kept trying to convince me that letting the children play with me wouldn't be such a bad idea. Doesn't she think I know that? It's not that I don't appreciate their attention. Sometimes I just prefer to be left alone. But she doesn't understand why.

The others are just like her. They absolutely adore the childrens' care. They're eager to be taken out of our "egg palace" and to explore the world. They're always so curious about things. Not that I don't wonder what's beyond this box sometimes. I'd just rather keep my world simple.

And besides, a lot of the children aren't always careful. I know they mean to be cautious at times, but the others are even testing their new wings while they're in the children's care. They could seriously hurt themselves. But I suppose they're just curious.

Oh dear. Boston's knocked over the temperature gauge thing again. I'd better go.

A Chcken's Life:

Hi there, im a chicken!!! My mommy's name is Hill, Meredith Hill. I know shes not a hen and there's no possible way that she's my mom, but she takes care of me. She and her students built me and my 5 friends a home, with a playground. We get food and water. Sometimes my friend poops in the water and she has to pour us more water. It's kinda funny. Sometimes her students can be SO NOISEY. When that happens we start to chirp so loudly so that they have to be quiet. But overall they are really nice to us.

THE CHICKS GOT GOOD NAMES.

The Chicky Tragedy

One day, Professor Hill was taking home the chicks, but suddenly they were gone. Professor Hill was worried. " OH GOD, OH GOD. Where are my chicks?" Professor Hill searched everywhere and they were nowhere to be found. People told her just to give up "You are not going to find them" they said sadly. But Professor Hill was not giving up. Though at certain times she wanted to give up, she always found a way to cheer herself up. The next day she went to the store and saw one of her chicks and she was full of joy. Then as she went around the store getting her daily groceries she found each one. When she got to school all the students were filled with joy. Fortunately, they all lived happily ever after. " PEEP, PEEP, PEEP (Happily Ever After in chick language)" said the chicks.

The new beginning.

"I still remember when I was still little. The first time I smelled fresh air. I saw many of my kind next to me. But there was also another kind of creature. I did not know who they were, but they seemed to notice our presence. Are they our parents? Before the answer can come to me, I heard a loud noise. Another one of the big kinds came in. It seemed like they were communicating in some way, though to me it sounded like a bunch of yappering. Before I can make my first chirp of freedom, one of the big kinds came and picked one of my kind up! Nooooooo!! Maybe this answers my question of "Are they my parents?". My friends (possibly me family) was getting picked up by one of the big ones. The only thing the rest of us can do is chirp for help, and yell until they drop our friend. We did not know if it was the chirping, or if they simply got tired, but either way, the big ones dropped my friend. But before I ran off and went to ask if he was ok, the big ones came back and shoved us all into a big bag! It seemed as though it was only seconds before we were free to go. But this time, the surrounding didn't look anything like it used to. I was frozen in fear. It took a little bit of time, but I settled down and decided to look around. There was no sighn of any type of "wild danger"(if you don't count the big creatures). So now, I was kept in a little baracade full of my kind without much space, but on the other hand, no danger at all. Was this a good thing or a bad thing? I didn't know, but I was about to find out. This was a completely new and unusual start for my life."

The Beasts

This is about students that don't do the procedure that we have to do to see the chickens in their pen, so the chickens think they're predators. Hence the title.:)

The Beasts

Look at them
so cute, so small

Look at these beasts
so big, so tall

They look so fragile
I hope they don't fall

They look so viscous
the wildest beasts of them all

Why do they look so scared?
We wish that to cease

Why do they look so confused?
Those cleaver, wild beasts

Hey, everyone!! My name is Sunshine/Sunny. As a recap, all of my sisters names are : Orie, Sunshine, Boston, Angel, Leopard Baby, and Penguin. Five of my sisters, including me, have picked our MOTHERS!!!!! Some of us have changed our minds about our mothers though. And, Boston has picked Ellison from 6.1. Only one of my sisters is unsure about who her mother will be. Penguin is deciding between Brooke from 6.2, and Bryanna from 6.3. But, don't worry, about my sister Leopard Baby, she's got Prof. Hill! The decision of who my Penguin sister picks, will be made by TOMORROW!!! I wonder who she'll pick.........

P.O.V of all the Chickies

Sunshine/Sunny: I am so exhausted. It has been a day.
Boston: I agree.
Baby Leopard: I wonder when mama would take us back home in Brooklyn.
Angel: In our trip home, I didn't expect New York City to be that noisy. Did you girls think New York City is loud?
Sunshine/Sunny: I was sleeping so I did not hear anything.
Penguin: I did hear noise but during the trip, I was checking out my wings and organizing them.
Oreo: My feathers, was I scared.
Baby Leopard: I was scared at first, but I knew our mama would protect us and always keep us safe.
Boston: I was sleeping too. Boy, was I tired.
Sunshine/Sunny:I can't wait till the sixth graders hold us again. I just wish some of them would be a little more gentle with us.
Boston: I just love it when they hold me. I feel like a queen!
Baby Leopard: I am used to it so I can't wait either.
Penguin: Me either. What about you Oreo? You have been so quiet.
All( except Oreo): Yeah
Oreo: Um........
All: Come on tell us.
Oreo: Actually I get scared.
(She says tearing up)
Oreo: I know that all of you are going to think I am coward, but I just get scared. I wish I could be like you girls.(She says crying)
Sunshine/Sunny: Oh sweetie. No wonder why you were quiet. It is okay. Don't cry or we all would cry with you.
Angel: You are not a coward. You are like us. Our sister that we love and care for.
Baby Leopard: When my mama carried me at first, I was so scared. But I was determined to overcome my fear.
Penguin: Yeah. I agree with you.
Boston: I agree.
All: Don't worry Oreo. We will help you overcome your fear of being carried up.
Oreo: Thank you girls. You are the best sisters in the world.
(The baby chicks do a group hug)
All: Hey, that is what sisters are for!

From the eyes of little Leopard

PEEP, TWEET,PEEP (Hi, I'm Little Leopard. You might know me as the little chick with a beautiful brown stripe down my back. For everyone of you who doesn't know my eye got better. Oreo or Boston, well one of the twins, which I can't tell apart, pecked me in the eye but, she said sorry so it's okay. So I wanted to introduce myself. I'm strictly vegan and kind of shy. I looooooooooooooove going to the theaters with my friend Panda.)

The Bond That Tied Us Together

It was on that fateful day when my life all changed. I was in the shadow of death as the hawk soared around the farm. Its gleaming, beady eyes searched for prey, suitable for its family. As all the chicks were hurried in as the hawk was spotted, it suddenly took a risky dive. We waddled as fast as possible, knowing the consequences, but we just couldn't make it in time. Its long talons were outstretched to try and make a lucky catch. Unfortunately, it successfully did this. And, to add on to this horridness, I was one of the two snatched up in the air. This was the end, I thought.

I'm a newborn chicken living with several of my sisters. We live in a relatively safe farm. Although the rare hawk comes now and then, we can live easily. My life is actually very unclear. I have no clue who my parents are or where I was supposed to be. To makes matters worse, on the first few days of life, I was snatched up into the sky to be eaten.

As the wind stung my face in the sky, I fluttered about. I didn't want to die, I thought to myself. I chirped to my sister to see if she was okay. I was relieved to hear a chirp back. We needed a way back, fast. Suddenly, as I was brainstorming flawless ways to escape, I was dropped into a pile of soft twigs and leaves. The hawk is going to eat me here I thought. Suddenly, I was very nervous. I eyed the drop from the nest. Then, out of the act of courage, I jumped. As I'm a newborn, I am also very light. So, when I fell from the nest, it didn't hurt as much when I landed. Also, there were piles of leaves gathered around this particular tree that cushioned my fall. I heard another PLOP and I immediately knew my sister had followed me. For a while, we stayed under the covers of the leaves as we knew it would briefly protect us.

When we heard the screech of outrage of the hawk, we set off for our journey back home. I had watched the path of the hawk from above and knew the basic layout of coming home. I started out, climbing up and through tree branches. After another 10 minutes or so, I began to worry. What if this was the wrong pathway?

Suddenly, I froze. I felt eyes burning holes in my back. I slowly turned around to find myself face to face with a large bobcat. My sister peeped frantically, trying to run. That was pointless. She fell and lay motionless while I slowly stepped back. The bobcat eyed me. No doubt to him that I looked plump and juicy to eat.

It suddenly lunged at me. I found myself stumbling until I fell. That probably saved my life. The bobcat slashed at where I had just been standing. I burrowed myself inside a pile of yellow leaves. I knew this would camouflage me. the bobcat growled in anger and turned in circles to try and spot me. I slowly crawled through the mounds of leaves to try to reach my fainting sister. It was dangerous, no doubt, but it was the risk that had to be taken. Or else, my sister would be eaten before my eyes. The bobcat now started slashing wildly, hoping for a lucky kill. I bumped against a plump body and I immediately knew it was my sister. It would be both or none of us that finished the journey back home to the rest of our family.

Suddenly the bobcat turned and ran. I wheeled around and saw a cougar approaching, looking for the intruding bobcat. It ran toward the tracks in the dirt, and I knew I was safe for now. I nudged my sister to get her up but she just chirped weakly. I glanced at her leg to find it bleeding. I dabbed at it at told me to put her weight on me. That way, we stood up and slowly walked toward the farm of home. After 20 minutes of hopping and walking, we flopped on the ground to rest. It had been a tiresome day. I went under a shrub and closed my eyes. In a few minutes, i was asleep.

I woke, not knowing the time. It could've been the next day or the twentieth day. I was early morning, no doubt, and I heard rustling of leaves. I hopped out to find a human face staring at me. I chirped in alarm and began to run away. But, the hand was to fast. It scooped me up and talked soothingly. I began to quiet down when this happened. Just then, my sister peeped out to see what was going on. In a lightning fast move, this human scooped my sister as well. She spoke to us gently. We both settled into her hands as she carried us to the farm. I was back!

After treating my sister's wound, a few of us were taken by the kind female. We learned the her name was Professor. Hill. She named me "leopard baby", a name I adored. I settled into what she made with her effort, a cardboard fort. It was then I decided who my parent was - Professor. Hill.

A Latin American Song About Baby Chickens

Los pollitos dicen                                     The name of this song is  "Los Pollitos Dicen
"Pio Pio Pio"                                              Pio Pio Pio"
Cuando tienen hambre
Cuando tienen frio.

La gallina busca
el maiz y el trigo.
Les da la comida
y les presta abrigo.

Bajo sus dos alas,
acurrucaditos
duermen los pollitos
hasta el otro dia.

=)

PEEP

Peep, Peep, Peep
As we run across the pen
What a lousy afternoon
Waking up from our den

Peep, Peep, Peep
We frequently stop for a drink
To then scatter around
Playing happily without sleeping a wink

Peep, Peep, Peep
When we get picked up
Our excitement rises
When their hands lower, we jump

Chickens are chickens

Chickens are chickens,

they're cute and they're sweet.

Chickens are chickens,

and they may peck your feet.

Chickens are chickens,

they just want to play.

Chickens are chickens,

they'll be chirpy all day.

Chickens are chickens,

and their food is in scatters.

Chickens are chickens,

and that's all that matters.

Carnivore

My name is leopard baby and I have a bunch of sisters, yeah they get so annoying but I steal their food without them knowing, so lucky for me I get a lot of food. Not that I'm fat or anything I just like to eat. When will we eat worms from the CSS garden? I heard there big and I really don't want to share so for now the other five chicks didn't exists. Good luck other chicks because I'm a "Leopard" and, after all, am a carnivore so if you are too close you might get, well, let's say. . . fried. What sauce should be used?Tell me on the roost that Ethan and Griffin made. It's good to push stuff off. It's pretty high and after you fall by "accident" I'll see ya in chick heaven!

This story is not true although the "Chicks in Six" do really exist and they love the roost!

A Big Welcome!

 Welcome to the World!

Morgan woke up the next morning to the sound of peeps. "OMG, the chicks have hatched!" she said to herself. She jumped out of bed and put on her pink and white suspenders with her pink combat boots she got for her birthday last month. She ran outside to the barn as fast as she could and opened the door. As she ran into the chickens' corner she saw her father, Mr.Brown crouched down besides a mother hen that was sleeping on his lap. "Are the chicks here?" Morgan whispered. She knew better than to talk loudly or the chicks would be frightened! "Yes they're here" her father said. "You can't hold them now, but maybe tomorrow, they'd be too scared but guess what?" he asked, "There's six of them, and because you helped me the most with Meredith(The mother hen), you get to name all of them!" "Really! Oh My Gosh, I cant wait!" Morgan whispered excitedly. She ran to her mother in the kitchen to tell her what happened. When Morgan opened the screen door she stopped dead in her tracks...................

Mama Mama MAMA MAMA!! (continued from the P.O.V. of "Boston" the Chick)

Hello to the ones called the humans, I still haven't picked who my mother will be............... YET. I know it won't be long though, because I really want to experience the love that comes with having a mother. My sister ( "leopard baby" ) , tells me often about how her mother treats her, she says "my mother gives me all this love..... and attention.... it's the most wonderful feeling in the world".  I've decided to try process of elimination, to find my mother.  I've now crossed three humans off my list. I've crossed Niagale Fofana, Samuel Martinez, and Danielle Peralta, all from 6.1, off my list. To begin with, Niagale is very outspoken, it's not like that's a bad thing, I'm just saying that I'd prefer a mother, that's a little more attentive. Although, my yellow feathered sister says that she thinks she'll chose Niagale..... Anyway, I've crossed Samuel Martinez off my list because he calls my yellow feathered sister Sleepy Joe, which she hates for a number of reasons, ( which you'll find in Niagale's first entry of Mama Mama MAMA MAMA!!). I'm sad to day it, but I don't think anyone of my sister's is picking Samuel, because of the same reason. If Samuel would stop calling my sister Sleepy Joe, MAYBE one of my sister's would pick him.  I wouldn't choose Danielle, because she has the same problem that Niagale does, but she's EVEN MORE outspoken!!! I think that my sister Oreo, will pick her, though. I think that I'll pick the human girl called Maia (from 6.1), since she's not only attentive, but she has a great personality, and I know that she'll be able to love me well, like my sister ( "leopard baby" ) , is being loved. Anyway I'm adjusting to my home well...... and I'm wondering, which humans will my other sister's pick..............

A Poem I found about chikens

               Chickens

             Peck, peck, peck
            On the warm, brown egg.
             Out comes a neck
             Out comes a leg.

               How does a chick,
               Who's not been about,
               Discover the trick
               Of how to get out?

Look! It's a magazine about chickens. Our chicks would make better models : )

My Chick POV (Also, sorry its so long)

My life at the farm was great, even though it was only for a few days. I was just born, my down just coming out. About eight days old, I had fun with my sisters. All six of us were very warm, cuddled up in a ball under a bright light. I couldn’t see around us because my eyes we still unfocused and glazed. The heat from the light above me made me sleepy. My sisters around me were already out. I settled down and lowered my head to a comfortable position, then fell into a deep, soundless sleep. My eyes were still closed when I felt that my sisters were not around me and I was moving slightly, shifting from side to side. I opened my eyes a crack, drowsiness still weighing down my eyelids. Then in surprise, I opened them fully. I was in some sort of box. Under me was a small amount of mulch. As I looked around, I saw that in one corner of  the small box was a food dish. Next to it was a small water container. I inspected the container and found a spout with a ball at the end. After a few minutes of trying to figure out what it did, I finally found that if I licked it, it would produce a bit of water on my tongue.
Suddenly It dawned on me. I was all alone in my box. No one else was near. My sisters were gone. I was very scared. I immediately started calling for my sisters. My chirps were quiet, but I kept at it for a while. After hearing no response I got so freaked out. I just wanted to get out of that box. My tiny stubs of wings flapped angrily, making the box shift even farther. Thats when I heard it, a soft soothing voice that made me feel warm in my gizzard. I started to calm down, my chirp stopped and I folded my wings back into place. I couldn’t understand the voice, but it made me feel safe. I stopped moving and finally got a good look at the inside of this box. A hole was on the side of it, not big enough to stick my head out, but not too small so I couldn't see out of it. I stumbled over my non-coordinated legs to the hole. The light blinded me and I had to close my eyes for a second. After The light was not so bad I glances out the hole. It was a landscape, trees I think. They whizzed by faster than anything I had ever seen. I started to feel dizzy and went back to lay down. Even though I was scared for me and my sisters, I knew that I just had to stay still and get as much rest as possible. My head drooped and I slept instantly.
The next time I woke up, I was still in the box, but the shifting had stopped, along with the hum I had noticed earlier. My box then moved sharply and I slid to one side. I chirped in surprise and moved around jerkily, trying to get out. I remembered the hole and went over to it. Outside, the ground was not far below and I was swiftly moving towards an awkward red brick building. The door was opened by a funny creature that was obviously what they call a human. Kind of. I don't know how to explain it. Anyways, I was taken over to a room. the door had weird pictures and colors on it, but inside was entirely different. The box continued to move and unsteady me. On the floor was a small inclosment. I couldn't believe my eyes. All of my sisters were there too. They were cautiously pecking at the material surrounding them. I can't explain what happened next. the top of the box opened and I felt a grasp around my body. I spazzed out. This was just too much. My head reached around trying to find anything to peck and I squirmed as much as I could. My sisters, seeing me in midair held up by a human hand. The hand squeezed around me but then gently set me down on the bottom of the small place. My sister crowded around me and asked me if I was okay.
I was still shocked. though I could still tell them what happened to me and that I was okay.
Apparently, my sisters had all arrived here in the same box. Lucky them. When I finally got to look around I was surprised. It was kinda nice. I liked this new place. There were lots of things to play with. Soon, after we had settled down in our little home, the same face came back. Now that I knew it wouldn't hurt me and I was starting to get used to its face, it was less terrifying. This human was being very nice to us, like giving us water and food. I heard her talk for quite a long time to us in a very slow voice. This was going to be my home for a while, I decided. Better get used to it. That night, a few  hours later, I slept with my sisters. The human had gone home and we were there alone. Only a small light was on us and everything else was dark. I fell asleep fast.
The next morning very early, the lights in the room turned on. I snapped awake and looked around. “good morning” my sisters all said to me. I replied quietly and screamed when I saw what I did. A group of so many small humans came in, making a lot of sound. A lot of them were laughing and talking really loud. Me and my sisters flapped and ran around in fear as a group of people stood around us. These humans were terrible. Besides being load, they were also mean. They stuck their hands down and hit us hard. I found myself running for my life as hands flew down around me.
This pretty much sums up my next few days. People trying to pet me, but hurting me, and too many noises. I got more used to it than I thought. After about a week, one of the kids picked me up and pet me on the head. I bit him and then uhhhhhh my head dropped and everything went black.
Who knows how much later I woke up to find one of my eyes was in pain. I couldn’t open it at all. one eye could just barely open. I went to my sisters for answers. They told me the story. “One kid came and poked you in the eye. You were out real fast. Then he put you back in and pretended nothing happened.” I sighed. Will these kids ever learn?
It was the end of the week. We were packed closely in a box and went for a trip from the room. In a few hours we arrived at a house. A new pen we there and we went into it. The human that took care of me called me something like “leopard baby.” I grew to like her. I found her name was Hill. She gave me a lot of love. Maybe it was because my left eye was still shut. Soon, I decided she was my mama. Of course she was. How could I not see it before? Whenever she put her hand in, I would run there as fast as my little legs will carry me. When her hands lifted up, I would cuddle close. I wasn't scared anymore.. At least of her. Her shoulder was my favorite place to stay. I loved it. I was so high up and could see the world.
My life went on for many weeks just like this. It was a nice life. The children were getting better at handling us. And for once, my sisters and I couldn't be happier.

THE END
