Welcome to Chicks in Six!, a blog through which to explore and reflect on our visiting 6th graders: six pullets, or baby female chicks! The chicks come to us from Earth Matter, an awesome non-profit organization that educates about compost and urban agriculture. After a few weeks learning to play well with others and picking up some 6th grade English skills, the pullets will return to their flock and move to their new home at Governors Island. There, they'll live in the Earth Matter "Hot Chicks Room" and help make beautiful compost! Join the CSS 6th graders in welcoming our six newest classmates!
These new chicks are so cute and I love the fact that they adopted to their new environment so quickly. Being able to hold them so soon is fun and doesn't get people impatient. It's a good thing that you wont here this: "Why do we have to wait to touch them. Can't we touch them now?"

DeleteI like all of them, I don't know why everyone's giving all the attention to the one with the stripe on it's back! What about the other chicks? I think they're cute too!!!!! :)

DeleteWell, 3 chicks came up to my hand, and all at the same time, they started pecking at my ring!!!!! Prof. Hill kept saying, "Oh my god, that's SO FUNNY"!!!!!
